Engaging with your followers on social media is an important and often overlooked part of any business, especially when you are an ecommerce brand. With many moving parts, the company forgets one of the most important parts of the process–the customer.
As the world starts to become more connected to social media, customers are finding more ways to connect and understand brands that they are ready to welcome into their lives. A huge part of making this decision is how open brands are to communicating and engaging with their customer base. One of the most important parts of a brand growing is the way you interact with your audience. Responding to a simple comment can make the world of a difference to your audience, as well as to those silently watching. As a consumer, you want to know that the brand that you love loves you right back.
With that being said, how are you engaging with your customer base?
Best practices for engaging with your users:
Always look to to have a conversation with your consumers on platforms that are familiar to them. This means opening up your Twitter, Instagram, Facebook for questions, and letting them know you’re as eager to speak to them as they are with you! This can be best done when you open up the floor for questions in your posts. Provoke a question, ask them to share an experience, you cannot go wrong by inviting friendly feedback!
Answer it all–the good, the bad, the ugly. Here is the hard truth– as great as your products are, there is always a chance that someone out there won’t agree with you, maybe enough to publicly criticize and bash you online. How does one gracefully handle a situation like this? As tough as the answer may seem, it’s easy–answer with care and compassion. Acknowledge their experience, and always aim to improve. This goes for the positive feedback as well!
Show your customers you care. The beauty of social media is that we have the capability to engage with your customer’s post–follow any mentions that may have to do with your post, and don’t be afraid to interact with it. Comment on it, like it, share it. Make your audience feel like they’re important.
When you engage with your consumers, you are not just validating your presence as a brand, you are establishing that you are a brand that cares. So don’t be afraid to take the time out to engage, it’ll come back!
